I had the opportunity to go to a unique party last night - called Bead for Life - it's an organization that helps Uganda - Ugandan women make beaded jewelry, it's sent to the Bead for Life organization here in the states and then people can host parties, much like a Stella and Dot or a Lia Sophia party, but the difference is, all the funds go to support those in need in Uganda. The hostess receives nothing for doing this other than the satisfaction of helping those in need. And, you don't have to wait for the jewelry, you can take it home with you. My friend said she received a box with 250 pieces in it. I did some Christmas shopping, but also got myself a couple of goodies.
Above is the necklace I bought - this picture doesn't even do it justice. It has many brown hues, so I thought it would be a nice touch for my outfit today.
I also bought myself this bracelet - isn't it fun? I love the colors - it will go with anything and everything. So anyway, it was a neat experience and it's a good feeling knowing I helped make a difference with my purchase.
In other news, we're having a potluck in my office today. I have to laugh - we're a health care organization but man, there are always so many opportunities to eat, and not necessarily in a healthy fashion. I try my best to make good choices so I won't get through the holiday season and feel like I need to drop 20 pounds!
Hard to believe we're already halfway through Neutrals Week! Tomorrow is Cognac and I have several ideas, so I'm looking forward to that!
Rundown:
Sweater - Mossimo, Target
T-shirt - Old Navy
Pants - Alfani, Macy's
Necklace and bracelet - Bead for Life
Shoes - Mudd, Kohls
Such beautiful jewelry and for a great cause! Office potlucks are my favorite. I love to eat and I usually end up in a food coma by the end of the day though, lol! Heather
ReplyDeleteThat necklace and bracelet are so pretty! What a great organization to support. And I miss working an office job SIMPLY because of the potlucks. Yum!
ReplyDeleteYour jewelry is pretty, and it sounds like a good cause.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful jewelry with a a great cause attached? Color me impressed. I miss the church potlucks I used to attend with my grandparents. I need to move closer and force my friends to have potlucks!
ReplyDeleteMom, her friend and I did our thanksgiving as a potluck. Makes for an easier time for all.
