Hello friends! Welcome to Monday. Surprisingly, I'm not doing Inspiration Monday this week. Though I find that the outfit I wore on Wednesday of last week matches the inspiration today perfectly, so I think I'm going to submit that! Here is a link to that outfit and here is a link to two birds in case you want to see what I mean! So anyway, today instead I chose a sweater from the bag from my cousin - and it photographed so poorly, it frustrates me a bit, but here we go.
Sweater - Ralph Lauren, from cousin
Shirt under sweater - Old Navy, thrifted
Pants - Banana Republic, from SIL
Necklace - Charming Charlie
Shoes - Etienne Aigner, thrifted
Saturday was our oyster, we had no set plans for anything and the day turned out so fun. We first ran to one of the newer breweries in town because they were releasing a limited release beer and the Pants Monkey wanted to go get a bottle to share with this new craft beer group he joined. They let us buy two a piece which was pretty cool, we'll cellar the other ones for a bit. Then we went home to make lunch and while I was checking Facebook I found out a brewery that is scheduled to officially open in a couple of weeks was having a soft opening on Saturday, so we decided after lunch we should go down and check it out. It was fun, it's a really nice brewery and while we were there, some of the guys from his beer group actually showed up, so we hung out with them for a bit. Totally unplanned, quite hilarious. After that we had some dinner out which was also nice.
I couldn't let it go - quick picture at work to show the sweater is peach!
Sunday was a more relaxing day, although we each still did a fair amount of stuff! Mr. Monkey set up his meat smoker even though it was super cold outside and smoked us ribs and a brisket for dinner. While he did that, I baked cupcakes for the first time since last winter. They turned out pretty good, red velvet with almond buttercream frosting. Yum!
And I also took about an hour this weekend and went through my closet. I do two big sweeps each year - start of fall and start of spring. But sometimes in the middle of the longer seasons, like winter and summer, I'll do a quick pass through and see if there's anything I'm just not wearing, especially when I get things from my cousin or did a big thrift trip or also with it having just been Christmas. So I now have a couple of bags for Goodwill and a bag I'm hoping to possibly sell up at Clothes Mentor. We'll see how it goes!
So that's the news from here! Hope you all had great weekends too!
sounds like a fabulous weekend! Lots of beer, good company, and red velvet cupcakes! Can't beat that! Sometimes it's annoying when you can't get photograph stuff the way you want! But I like the sweater! And I believe you that it's peach!

You were super busy, but it sounds like it was not only productive, but fun! I did the closet purge this weekend too and ended up with three bags for donation! Your peach sweater is really pretty and a great color on you. Love it paired with the cords too. Heather
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great weekend!! Glad that you guys had a lot of fun! I love that sweater as well - then again we all know I love a good peach color since it falls in the orange family :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had an amazing weekend! I love the peach sweater, and I can tell it looks cute with the outfit, even if the color is off (stupid cameras).
ReplyDeleteRed velvet cupcakes sound divine! I need to do a bit of a closet clearance also ... make way for some new Spring colour:)

Oooo sounds like so much fun! I need to get some baking in soon too-I've got the itch for zucchini bread :) Grr I hate when my pictures turn out off colored, but you still look fabulous! A RL sweater is going to be such a classic and wonderful piece to remix. Plus, I love the texture of your pants! So great for the chilly weather.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like such a fun weekend! Now I want a cupcake, haha. Your sweater looks really cute layered with the striped top underneath!

Gorgeous color combo! I especially love pink and green together. I do a good closet sweep each season, I just dropped off a bag of stuff. I think I've built a good core closet now.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a tasty weekend! Brisket and ribs sound delicious.
You're so cute! And I am so glad you had such a fun weekend - I would love to know about these breweries you went to. A good friend of mine is a big brewer and I would love to share these places with him! xoxo
ReplyDeleteLovely jumper, and well done for the wardrobe weed. I have my eye on a polo neck and a pair of wool shorts, I have worn neither of them very much this winter...
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun time! This sweater looks so cute and cozy! Glad you're choosing to stay warm because it's FREEZING out there! BRR!

ReplyDeleteOooo pretty sweater! And those pants look super soft. :-) A very cozy look.
ReplyDeleteThis color is pretty, too, Beth, I can tell it's an awesome sweater. I'm doing the closet-editing, too, but I never can seem to quite finish it. Arrrgh.
ReplyDeleteLoads o' microbrewery fun. Good times :)
