Well guys, it's Ash Wednesday, which is the start of Lent and if you were following me last year at this time you know that during Lent I went on a shopping ban. I have decided I want to do it again. Now yes, I am a religious person, but that's really not why I'm doing this. The "giving something up" thing was never pushed in my house growing up. I am doing it more because it's a good time of year to do it honestly. I do not need anymore winter clothes. By the time we get to Easter, it'll be very close to spring. I need to work with what I've got in the meantime. So it's just a good time to do a shopping ban.
I've also gone kind of overboard lately in some things I've bought and while it's all stuff I can use and have been wanting, it means I've spent a bit of money that I really didn't need to. So more reasons it's just time to put myself on the ban. So what are the rules of my ban? Pretty simple - absolutely no clothes, shoes or accessory shopping. I am making an exception for one thing and one thing only - I have a hole in my black leggings, so I will be replacing those to get through the rest of winter and I'll just buy a five dollar pair at Target so I feel it hardly counts. Otherwise that is it. I'm also trying to avoid buying any bath and beauty items as I am well overstocked on those types of things. So, here we go. 40 days and 40 nights. I made it before so I know I can make it again!
Sweater - Merona, Target, Christmas gift
T-shirt - Mossimo, Target (old)
Pants - Express, consignment
Shoes - Etienne Aigner, thrifted
Not much to say about my outfit today. I bought the pants a couple of weeks ago at the consignment shop. They are a bit too long, I found after I added a belt they looked better as you can see in the last picture. My mom had hemmed them a little bit for me but I might have to have her do some more. I like them, they are almost denim in color and they're very comfy!
I absolutely love your cardigan! The collar is so pretty. Best of luck on your ban. You can do it! Heather
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to do a shopping ban as well - trying to get better about my spending and only buy what's needed. We'll see how long that lasts :D Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteI do love those pants! The wide leg is very chic and they are such a versatile color too. A shopping ban is a great idea...haha
ReplyDeleteI love the embellishment on the cardigan! Good luck with the shopping ban! I've done very little shopping lately and the things I've bought have either been on major clearance or bought with gift cards. I've realized the money just needs to go to more important things!

ReplyDeleteI think that is a great thing to give up for Lent, in fact, I didn't know what I was going to do and I think I'll join you! I just don't need anymore clothes and it is a good time to focus on other things in life.
ReplyDeleteCute outfit :)
Those pants look so awesome! They are good pants for heels if they are too long. So cool of your mom to hem them for you, I am still kinda learning how to do that myself.
ReplyDeleteI think it is really cool that you are giving something up! I think I am going to give up beer. Yep.
i have been fairly good about shopping...fairly good. and by that, i mean i have not gone to thrift stores 3 times a week!! now i try to do it once or twice a month, tops. good luck!!

Good luck with your ban! I find absolute bans mean I will just rebel (!) so I put limits on...
ReplyDeleteExcellent trousers! 40 days is just over a month. No big deal at all! You can totally make that.
ReplyDeleteLove this cardigan!
ReplyDeleteTarget cardis are the bomb, and this one is no exception. I did not vow to give up shopping, but I did something I'm really proud of this weekend, and that is edit my wardrobe down to almost one closet. It feels so good, and I am promising myself to sick to the one out for everything in rule. Now I have to attack my large dresser and do some editing there.
