Happy Friday everyone! I'm actually working again today! It was nice having the last couple of Fridays off, but my boss is gone on vacation now, so someone has to hold down the fort! Fortunately I can be casual, so I chose a fun preppy layered look today. It was colder again this morning, so layers were a must.
Sweater - Polo Ralph Lauren, from cousin
Button shirt - Charter Club, Macy's
Jeans - Gap, thrifted
Shoes - Mudd, Kohls
Necklace - S&D
This button up under a sweater look has always been one of my mom's favorites and she used to buy me clothes back when I was in high school encouraging me to dress like this, but I never liked it back then. Funny how the times change I guess! I've said it before though, I wasn't horribly stylish in high school - it was mostly flannels and oversized sweatshirts for this girl. Definitely not a preppy chick back then! And somehow I still landed my Pants Monkey!
Speaking of the Pants Monkey, this outfit got the stamp of approval from him once again. We had a nice evening together last night, he ended up home a little late, so we gave up on making dinner and grabbed burgers from our favorite bar instead. I am looking forward to our nice dinner out on Sunday, but nights like last night are my favorites too!
Have a great weekend!
I've been really liking button ups under sweater lately. I love the color of your sweater...it makes me wish for spring so much more! :) Glad you guys had a good time last night...we just went and hung out at one of our favorite bars too. It's the company that matters most, isn't it?! :)

I was so anti-preppy in high school too, but now I love this look. The color of this sweater is so pretty and looks great with your skintone. It's one of my favorites of yours! Have a great weekend :) Heather
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great night! And I love this preppy look, perfect and incredibly chic for casual Friday!
ReplyDeletePretty necklace. And it never occurs to me to wear the bottom of a shirt outside my pants; that's just not a guy-thing to do, but it is very stylish and adds pizzazz to the overall look of an outfit. You look polished here.
ReplyDeleteI'm always wearing sweaters with button downs! It's such a put together, preppy look and keeps you warm in the winter. :) Have a great weekend, Beth!

i think i had to do preppy so much in grade school and high school (uniforms) that i never wear it now. i always think it looks great on everyone else, though!
ReplyDeleteI definitely love this look! A combination like this will always be in style and always be chic-that's what's so great about it. That coral color is so pretty on you too! Sometimes impromptu burgers are the best-sounds like fun! Also, I just saw your post from yesterday too and I'm loving the snow pictures! You look so pretty!
ReplyDeleteAwh Bethie! You are so nice. Really? You didn't think I was near 60? Yup, dob: 2/18/1953. That's me. But your comment MADE MY DAY!!!!!! (hug)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice 3 day weekend, right? You get Monday off? You should! and ...thank you for the necklace close up. Remember Vivienne at the Thrifted Shift? She would always do close-ups of her jewelry. I loved her for that. I miss her. (hug)
I love the bright color of this sweater! You look great :) Mmm! Burgers sound good! I hope you have a lovely dinner on Sunday!
ReplyDeleteLove the preppy look! Have a great weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like this preppy look! You look really nice! Glad you had a nice day, despite working!x
ReplyDeleteYou look super cute, esp in red! Preppy makes for a fun change from every day style. Hey, dittos to you hanging out with me again soon...maybe we can have that Audrey Hepburn movie night?

Totally gorgeous look. I love more saturated colors on you. I love burger-nights. I've been stuck on 'healthy' sandwiches lately, but I will still devour a burger - YUM.
ReplyDeleteI would have never worn anything preppy growing up. The word prep was anathema to my teenage brain. Now I enjoy a sweater over a collared shirt, especially the warmth!
love that color on you!
ReplyDeleteI love the color of your sweater. The first thing I thought when I saw your pics was what a cool necklace- and then I saw the detail shot! Lurve it. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this preppy look too, Beth. I didn't start dressing like this until about age 50 and I can't understand why it took me so long. ha
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous color sweater.
Of course you landed the Pants Monkey. He obviously knows a lovely woman when he sees one. I sort of spent the entire post drooling over your S&D necklace :o
ReplyDeleteI love preppy looks. I need to dress this way more because it's such a fun look. The color of your sweater is so pretty!
