I am SO excited about the dress I am wearing today guys. I bought this at the Tandem Vintage sale and fell in love right away - it's polka dots! Freaking polka dots! And here is the other thing I love, I had been eyeballing a very similarly inspired dress on Shabby Apple for quite some time - this one I got for less than I would have there and it's ACTUAL vintage. And I could not help myself but add the knee highs and Mary Jane styled shoes today. Maybe it's too twee, but I don't care. It's the look I wanted to rock today and leads into my next subject a little bit. Guilty pleasures.
Sweater - "A" brand from Herbergers
Dress - Tandem Vintage
Shoes - Payless (old)
Necklace - S&D
I was watching a recent episode of Glee (yes I said Glee - that would be guilty pleasure number one right here) and they did a whole "guilty pleasures" theme. I laughed with the Pants Monkey that Glee itself is a guilty pleasure, but then I started thinking about some of my other guilty pleasures and I thought, you know what, this would be kind of a fun blog post. And then ironically, Lori blogged about this very subject yesterday as well - so I thought, all right, I'm going to do it!
So, in addition to my Glee watching and wearing of knee high socks, here are a few other guilty pleasures:
1. I love cherry flavored Jolly Ranchers more than any of the other flavors. To the point that I dig through the bulk Jolly Rancher bin at the grocery store and dig out a bags worth of just cherry ones. The clerks never question it!
2. I am an indie girl when it comes to music, but I can't help but love me some pop music - LMFAO, Rhianna, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, even Nicki Minaj - I like to listen to them when I work out, they are much more motivating than Arcade Fire is, just saying.
3. You all know I'm way into craft beer and I would say my other drink choices really are usually quite "man-like" as I also love a good glass of scotch and I go towards drier, less sweet wines - but every now and then I really want a hard apple cider, a Leinenkugel Summer Shandy or a Mike's Hard Black Cherry Lemonade.
4. Reality Shows. Yeah, I know a lot of you are guilty of this too, but I get sucked in to some really silly ones like Amish Mafia (I still don't believe this show was real) and that stupid Splashed show on ABC.
5. Hooded sweatshirts. I love getting all dressed up for work every day, but some days I can't wait to get home and put on my nice cuddly hoodie.
Well there. I feel better now! What are some of your guilty pleasures?
This is so freaking cute! And those white knee-highs?! Yes, yes, yes. You are the cutest. :) Big hugs! Happy Wednesday, darlin!
ReplyDeleteADORABLE! Love this whole outfit and it's so you :)
ReplyDeleteMy guilty pleasures are: the new Beverly Hills 90210, Jerseylicious, and crawling into my pjs when I get home from work :)
Oh my gosh, you look SO CUTE! I love this polka dot dress so much :)
ReplyDeleteamish mafia? i have never heard of that, but my curiosity is piqued! the kids and i used to watch glee together, but it got pretty racy, so now i watch it by myself...guilty!
ReplyDeleteThat polka dot dress is adorable on you, Beth! I love that it's vintage! I saw that Glee episode too. I think most of my guilty pleasures involve reality tv, haha. And cherry Jolly Ranchers are THE best. :)

I love reality shows like Antiques Road Show or the ones where they go out hunting for junk, but I will watch nearly any show about aliens!
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable in this outfit, Beth. How cool that you found a vintage dress!
Oh, and I love a good hard cider - we have some amazing craft ones here (Merridale Apple Cider will kick you on your butt).
What a cute dress! You look great!
ReplyDeleteI love the dress AND how you styled it! I try not to feel guilty over my pleasures, but sometimes a few things need more explaining. I too like more pop music for working out! But then Kyle will come home and we both were siting in the kitchen listening to One Direction. No lie.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely reality shows! And peach gummy rings.
ReplyDeleteSuper adorable!!! Guilty pleasures....hmmm....mine would have to be browsing through paper at the art supply store (it is really more of an addiction...) and cooking stores, root beer, and Sweet Red Roo wine. And I'm definitely with you on the hoodies!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you know this look is right up my alley! Those socks are the cutest and I LOVE your dress (of course :) ). What a beautiful color! I love reality shows too much too...makes me feel better about my non-drama life I suppose? haha.
ReplyDeleteThat dress is adorable- it looks great on you! I hear you with the alcohol, I am generally a beer and scotch type of gal, but sometimes there is nothing more refreshing than cider. ...And I always dig for the apple jolly ranchers. So good. I don't watch much TV, but I'd say probably any Jane Austen movie in existance counts as a guilty pleasure for me too.
ReplyDeleteOh... I lurv this dress! How fun.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am a reality TV junkie. And I wish hoodies were fashion forward, I lurv to wear them also!
Adorable dress!! I love it! Hmmm - my guilty pleasures would have to be Glee as well, reality TV...I'm sure I could come up with some more too!
ReplyDeleteI love the polka dots. How cute!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute dress! :)
ReplyDeleteI would say my guilty pleasures include a cup of hot tea, a good cheeseburger and fries, a romance book and shopping, :)
Total cutie!! It may have a twee feel, but you are rockin' it. I love that color and it looks really great on you.
ReplyDeleteAh, guilty pleasures. I love "bad" music. Pop dance stuff, the worse it is, the more I'm going to pick up on it. I had only heard the song Call Me Maybe ONCE before I always knew all the words and obnoxiously sang it in public (to the music that was being piped out).
I also love cheeseburgers, fries, anything to do with cheese pretty much.
I bizarrely watched the Kardasians for awhile, but my favorite person on the show is Scott. He makes the most perfect observations (like the time he deadpan said to Kim "You're MARRIED" when she didn't want Kris to move into her house). I haven't watched any of it in awhile though. I stick with Grey's Anatomy and Castle for television consumption.
I love the dress! This outfit looks so adorable on you :)

ReplyDeleteI am loving this girl! its very Dorothy (Wizard of Oz) and I mean that as a compliment! plus, how cool is to finally be able to go out sans tights?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Maca, very Dorothy (in a sassy Beth kind of way!) I love reality tv shows too but Amish Mafia, haven't heard of that one!! I used to like Glee but have given up on it and am really enjoying Smash in its place!
ReplyDeleteYou look darling here! I LOOOOOOVE the socks/shoes - seriously such a fab vintage vibe here- and you are rocking it! Can't wait to meet up soon :) :) :)
