So last week I dressed like an adult version of Strawberry Shortcake and this week I bring you an outfit that is like an adult version of Rainbow Brite. Sort of. Lots of colors in this look. I wore this on my day off last Friday actually. On all these gray days I just find myself gravitating towards nice bright colors to try and cheer things up!
This sweater kept me pretty warm, but later in the day I gave in and put a warmer shirt on! It never really warmed up that day very much! And I wasn't doing much of anything besides watching movies and reading books anyway! I suppose I could have just stayed in my pajamas all day!
Sweater - Old Navy
Tunic - Xhilaration, Target, from Cambria
Capri leggings - Simply Vera, Kohls
Sandals - Target
Necklace - S&D
I can't wait to recreate this look on hopefully a warmer and sunnier day! Especially with how comfy these capris are! Highly recommend!
And once again, for anyone who wasn't an 80's kid like me, I'll provide a frame of reference on Rainbow Brite here. As far as I know she hasn't been modernized like Strawberry Shortcake quite yet, but then again, I could be blissfully ignorant!
Oh another fun childhood flashback! Yep, had that doll too. Weren't her friends called Sprites or was that another 80s doll?
ReplyDeleteThe tunic is fun since it has so many colors to work with. I love it paired with the navy sweater on top and pink capris on the bottom.

ReplyDeleteI'm loving your 80s inspired outfits! The colorful stripes are so cute and would certainly brighten a gloomy day :)

I LOVE the color of your capri leggings, very cute!
ReplyDeleteI loved Rainbow Sprite!! :-) And I think channeling her look is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteOh I love it! You always wear the most colorful outfits, so great :) I wish I were at home reading on this rainy day!
ReplyDeleteAw, how cute. We never go wrong with color.
ReplyDeleteha, i love it. you could do a whole series!!
ReplyDeleteStrawberry Shortcake and Rainbow Brite were childhood favorites of mine. I love your outfit. The colors are so pretty.

So cute! The tunic is awesome. Dressing up is still fun even if you aren't going anywhere... Plus bright colors help with dreary weather.
ReplyDeleteI think rainbow brite remains miraculously not "updated".
Loved Rainbow Bright so much I dressed up as her for Halloween a few years back. My sister borrowed the costume and went as her last Halloween. Her daughter was beyond thrilled, because my parents had brought out our old Rainbow Bright toys the last time she had visited. So cute to see my niece following her mom around in complete adoration!
ReplyDeleteRainbow Brite! I loved her :) Hope you have a great, long weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI love that little dress!
ReplyDeleteI was a big fan of Rainbow Brite too! And especially Jem and the Holograms. I went through a black and gray phase in high school, but I wear tons of colors now.
ReplyDeleteHahahaa I am loving your titles & outfits lately. I have only heard of Rainbow Brite but don't know exactly what character it is or anything. All I know is that Short Dress is Adorable. It would make a Great Summer Cover-up too, over a Bathing Suit.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Stay tuned for Week's Best Dressed later this weekend because I have one of your outfits featured.
Ah, I hadn't heard of the shortcake lady but I DO remember RainbowBright!
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous, Bethie, and very summery. Just need weather to match ... x
You look so cheerful and fun :) When I am at home, I look like a homeless person :P
