I have to say, I've been almost thankful for this cooler weather this week that has required me to wear longer sleeves - because it's allowed me to keep a very nasty bruise covered up. If you recall last Friday when I announced my good news, I had a blue arm cuff on. I'd had a blood draw that morning for some 1st Trimester screening type stuff. And the tech had warned me I might bruise, but I didn't think much of it until I went to remove the arm cuff Friday night. WORST bruise I've ever had from a blood draw. And it's taking it's sweet time going away, though it's finally to that gross yellow stage that tells me it's finally healing up.
I guess I shouldn't be that surprised. I have horrible veins and I'm honestly surprised they found a vein to work in the first place. They were ready to use a vein in my hand in fact - which wouldn't have been the first time - but then liked this one in my right arm. Mr. Monkey wonders if they went all the way through the vein or something. All I know is, it's ugly, but at least it hasn't been sore or anything!

This won't be the last time I'll have to have blood drawn this pregnancy either, so I can only hope next time it goes a little better! Might not be able to hide the after effects with long sleeves quite as well, because one can only hope that summer will arrive in Minnesota one of these days!
That's a really cute outfit! I know what you mean about bruising when it comes to blood draw. I always seem to bruise too! Glad it's almost gone though! Here's hoping for better and warmer weather (that includes the sun!!)
ReplyDeleteBruising sucks! I get bruised and half the time I don't even know where it came from, ha ha! I like your top and the necklace. Have you done a close up of that one before?
ReplyDeleteCute top! Whenever I think about bruises, I think about the first and only time I went snowboarding and fell down about 20 times. The bruises on the back of my legs for the next two weeks were the largest I've ever had!
ReplyDeleteSummer has to come someday!! Cute outfit though :)
ReplyDeleteOh no! I've had a bruise on my thigh for like 2 weeks now (you may have noticed it in my photos)...the darn thing will not go away! And I have no idea how I even got it.

They could have just nicked the vein wall - I have very difficult veins for blood draws as well. I always bruise!
ReplyDeleteLove this pretty top on you!
I have the same problem with my veins! It usually takes two or three tries and always bruises horribly. And oh my gosh getting an iv is about ten times worse. :) Glad it is getting better. :
ReplyDeleteLovely layers! Dude I bruise like that too. I stopped trying to give blood because they could never find my vein.
ReplyDeletereading that gave me the heebie jeebies. anything having to do with needles does! i'm glad you're healing up!
ReplyDeleteHope it all clears up for you Beth! I am sure it has to get warm soon also.Weather is definitely gone mad this year!

Dang slow summer. Like you said the longer sleeves can hide the bruise. Too bad you had that happen. I have heard that if you eat pineapple regularly it will fight bruises fast. The enzymes in pineapple works to flush blood through your circulation better. Try it. Couldn't hurt.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the bruise! I'm surprised my IV didn't cause me to bruise up. I just had the tiniest brown bruise. Must have had a good sticker.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you're healing up. Maybe request they use a smaller needle? I know my mom has to have them do that.
I wish I had your cooler weather. Our one day of rain was so nice.
There's the LuLu*s bag! Do you love it? It looks cute on you :)
